Beautiful Scenery

Nyhavn

1 hr

On the flat harbour-front walk from Langelinie described above; otherwise a short walk from Kongens Nytorv metro station.

Visit Copenhagen calls it more than a postcard view — a living piece of the city's history: a 17th-century sailors' harbour lined with pastel townhouses, three of which Hans Christian Andersen lived in. Canal tours depart from here, which makes it the practical starting point rather than just the photograph.

Family Fun

Tivoli Gardens

2-4 hrs

The city's top-listed attraction and a 19th-century pleasure garden rather than a modern theme park. It sits beside Copenhagen Central Station, so it pairs naturally with arriving or leaving by train. Seasonal — check it is open on your call date before building the day around it.

Ancient History & Ruins

The Little Mermaid and Kastellet

1 hr

Visit Copenhagen's own framing is Copenhagen's most famous sculpture, and it is smaller than almost everyone expects. Worth pairing with the star-shaped Kastellet fortress beside it, which is the better of the two, and both fall on the Langelinie walk rather than needing a separate trip.

DIY vs. excursion

Excursion

Optional

Which berth you get changes the day. Langelinie puts the Little Mermaid, Kastellet and Amalienborg on a flat harbour-front walk into Nyhavn, and Visit Copenhagen gives bus 27 from the Indiakaj stop as the alternative. Nordre Toldbod, used by smaller ships, is closer still. Oceankaj in Nordhavn is the main large-ship terminal and is not walkable — Visit Copenhagen routes it via bus 25 to Orientkaj and the M4 metro. Check the berth before planning the day.

A full day — the harbour walk and the centre fill one comfortably; Tivoli needs its own block
